DANIEL ÁLVAREZ

Daniel is a missionary serving with Edutech Mission in Costa Rica. He was born in Sincelejo, Colombia where he came to know the Lord at a young age, and continued to learn and grow through the experiences and opportunities offered in his home church. He had served in the church for 15 years in various roles including deacon and youth group leader. He believes it is a great privilege and gift from God to be able to grow, learn from the Word, and receive guidance from leaders and pastors in his church.

When he was 31 years old, he began to feel that God was calling him to serve as a missionary. At this same time, Daniel had begun volunteering with Edutech Mission in Colombia to help set up computer learning centers with a local partner, CIPEP. After travelling to Costa Rica several times and meeting with the team, he was sure God was leading him to work with Edutech Mission and to use his skills in the area of technology development.

Now, Daniel lives in San José, Costa Rica where he is taking courses in theology and is an active part of the youth ministry in a Nazarene church where he volunteers. He thanks the Lord for His grace and mercy, and recognizes the times that he went through tough and desert-like moments, was because God was using those situations to prepare and send him as a missionary to Costa Rica.
